I just received a flood of bounced messages – bounced messages that I didn’t send.
If you received one of these messages, then I need to make this clear to you: I did not send them. I’m sorry you got them, I really am, but I had nothing to do with it.
The problem is a technical one, but it comes down to this: some mail servers make you prove who you are before you send email. Some don’t. The ones that don’t are the ones that the SPAMmers take advantage of, and so they are part of the problem.
If you get a SPAM, please try to report it to the system administrators of where it originated from. If you need help doing that, then I suggest you check out the CAUCE website, or Fight Spam on the Internet. I have nothing to do with either organization other than agreeing with their goals of stopping SPAM – so if they have bad information, or tell you to do something and you get in trouble, please don’t come back here to yell at me.
